Personal Trainer in SW1, Marylebone, Mayfair & Belgravia: Private 1-1 Training for Over 40s

You’re over 40. You work hard, you look after other people, and your body doesn’t bounce back like it used to.

Maybe your waist has crept up. Maybe your back is stiff by Friday. Maybe you have a gym membership and no plan.

I’m Will Duru. I help men and women over 40 get stronger through private 1-1 personal training in SW1, Marylebone, Mayfair and Belgravia.

Why strength matters more after 40

Muscle loss starts earlier than most people think. Physiotherapists say we can lose up to 8% of our muscle mass each decade from the age of 30. Less muscle means less strength, slower recovery and a higher risk of injury.

You can push back. The NHS recommends muscle-building exercise on at least two days a week. Most people I meet aren’t doing it. Or they do it without guidance and aren’t sure it’s working.

Problems I help over 40s fix

  • Weight gain around the waist
  • Back, neck and hip stiffness from desk work
  • Low energy and poor sleep
  • Fear of injury or doing exercises wrong
  • A gym membership with no structure

Strength training won’t fix everything. It does help with most of these.

Meet your personal trainer

I’ve worked in fitness for over 12 years. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science from London South Bank University, and I’m a Level 3 qualified personal trainer with a strength and conditioning background.

I was named Best Personal Trainer of the Year at the British Business Awards 2024. My advice has appeared in Men’s Health, Women’s Health, The Telegraph and Coach.

That experience means your plan is built on science, not guesswork.

How private 1-1 personal training works

Every client starts with a conversation. I ask about your goals, your job, your injuries and your week. Then I build your programme.

In every session you get:

  • A plan written for you
  • Coaching on your technique
  • Progress tracking
  • My full attention, with no waiting for equipment

Two sessions a week is enough for most people to build strength steadily. You don’t need to train every day. Beginners are welcome.

What results can you expect?

I won’t promise a transformation. Results depend on your starting point, your effort and how consistent you are.

Many clients notice better strength, easier movement, more energy and more confidence in their body. Give it a few weeks of steady training and you’ll usually feel the difference.

How much does it cost?

  • Once per week: £125 per session
  • Twice per week: £115 per session

You’re paying for expert coaching, a plan built around you and someone who keeps you accountable.

When to pause and get advice

Training should never leave you worse off. Stop and speak to a health professional if you notice any of these.

  • Bleeding that gets heavier or turns pink or red after activity.
  • A stomach that still bulges or feels floppy more than six weeks after birth, or any loss of bladder or bowel control.
  • A heavy or dragging feeling in your pelvis.
  • Pain at a caesarean scar or at the site of a tear.
  • Ongoing back or pelvic pain.

I’d rather pause a session than push through something that needs checking.
